Question: “If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. they are father, the mother and the teacher.” – A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Analyse.
Answer: The society and its residents are greatly influenced by certain individuals who have the ability to change their future and destination. Among them father, mother and teacher have great influence on the nature of their ward and making them better individuals.
How do they influence individuals?
- Proximity during productive years
There is a particular time in a person’s life when he/she will be more open for influence. During this period there are chances that they may pick wrong values from their peers. Teachers and parents have the ability to neutralize these wrong values.
- Imparting values
Young individuals are more sensitive towards the actions of their parents and teachers while developing behaviour. The values and good practices propagated by father, mother and teachers always stay with them for the rest of their lives.
- Role models
Students usually consider their parents or teachers to be their role models and try to replicate their actions. If teachers or parents indulged in bad practices then there are high chances that children pick up the same values and inculcate in them. So teachers and parents must try to radiate positive practices.
Ex: Parents bribing police officials will definitely influence the value system of the child when he/she grows up.
Certain guidelines have to be followed by parents and teachers to impart positive values and create model citizens of the future.
Thus, the quote is an absolute reflection of the role played by influencing figures viz parents and teachers on the lives of children and how they have an important role in creating a beautiful society in the future.
